Refractive index guided microstructured optical fiber is a kind of light waveguide, in which the light energy is transmitted by the refractive index mierostructure waveguides. There are several kinds of microstructured optical fibers, such as multi-core fiber, linear core array fiber and circular core array fibers. The fiber manufacturing technology and its characteristics of the refractive index distribution are discussed. The sensing applications of these fibers are also demonstrated.
