Stress is a serious constraint in the growth and health of animals, resuhing in huge economic losses. It is necessary to evaluate stress timely and accurately to carry out a nutritional manipulation of it. Common measures of stress evaluation include the normal physiological and biochemical indicators, acute phase proteins （APPs） and heat shock proteins （HSPs）. We reviewed the animal characteristic physiological responses and indicators in the process of stress, and introduce the research progress of anti-stress additive in briefly.
