This present work deals with experimental and theoretical analyses of deformation and rotation of standing-wave modes in the annular vibrators of ultrasonic motors. The traveling-wave and traveling-wave-old are observed experimentally in the ring stators of ultrasonic motor by single-phase drive. When an annular vibrator has a non-axisymmetrical structure, some problems can exist and exert influences on its vibraional behavior. The degen- erate modes of the same form exist no longer, but the same order modes with near natural frequencies instead. The phase difference of time between the responses of modes emerges from different contributions of dampping to the different modes. The traveling-wave-oid observed in the vertical direction is not a normal traveling-wave but a distortion of standing-wave.
