A porous erbium doped lithium niobate was fabricated for studying upconversion luminescence to three wavelengths in the visible. The emission bands excited by a 980 nm diode laser were centered at 660, 550 and 450 nm, respectively. The transport mean free path was found to be in the submicron range in coherent backscattering measurements. This makes the material suitable for an upconversion random laser emitting at multiple wavelengths in the visible.
