In the late 20^th century, there were a series of socio-economic and cultural transitions in the West. The transition of production mode and the update of industrial structure caused cultural change, which resulted in conversion of style of built-up environment. People began to criticize modernism and paid more attention to post-modernism and localism, which brought good chances to historic conservation. The historic environment of the Pearl River Delta (PRD) is characterized by abundant historic resources and obvious local cultural style in built-up areas. However, at present, the historic conservation action lags and the conservation system is unitary. The paper considers that: some economic and social indexes of the main cities in PRD are embodying their obvious trend of Post-industrialization. These cities will undergo some cultural transition and the conversion of style of buih-up environment, which will also make the whole society think much of historic conservation of PRD. In order to achieve the objective, different departments of local governments should reinforce collaboration; more and more people and social groups should be encouraged to participate in the historic conservation.
