A construction with the raise boring machine is a safe,high efficient and economic construction technology of the mine shaft.A mine of Shanxi Lanhua Coking Coal Company Limited was going to construct a new mine air returning shaft with a net diameter of 4mand a depth of 402.2mand the mine shaft was constructed with the raise boring machine.The paper briefly introduced the selection of the raise boring machine as well as the construction technique,construction features and construction effect of the raise boring machine.The successful practices of the raise boring machine construction for the mine shaft was not only an important symbol of the technical progress in China raise boring construction technology,but could provide the references to the mine shaft reconstruction with the raise boring machine in the medium and small coal mines.
