The frequent occurring of extreme events has caused a bad influence on global climate and environment, and intensified the regional water resources shortage. How to use the method of modern geography to reduce the harmful effects of climate changes becomes the urgent need to solve the problem. Remote sensing technology and the coupling of hydrological model can better explore, analyze, simulate and predict the regional water resources shortage situation. The efficient allocation of water resources can make it more targeted for the pattern of the space-time distribution of water resources and the social and economic development in our country where there are problems of water shortages. Therefore, this article summarizes the present status of research on extreme weather events and water resources allocation from the three aspects of extreme climate events, remote sensing technology and the hydrological model coupled, water resources allocation research. On the basis of the related research results ,this paper discusses the existing problems and future research direction, and aims to offer the reference for research and development in the future.
