Silica-aluminum oxide has been found to be an efficient catalyst for the condensation of acetylacetone at room temperature with substituted anilines to give the corresponding six N-aryl-β-enaminones in good yields,the highest of which can reach over 80%.The catalyst could be easily recovered from the reaction mixtures and reused.
