Based on the detailed geological survey, the potential failure mode of high-steep rock slope in some open-pit mine was determined by stereographic projection combined with three-dimensional discrete element calculation. The deformation and failure of the slope block in the excavation process was truly simulated in a dynamic way, which can provide reliable reference data for slop stability calculation.
