According to the characteristics of life services, a model of life-oriented vertical search engine is proposed. The model describes specific algorithms and implementations of four functional modules, which include information collection, information extraction, index instruction and information retrieval. Practical application shows that the model search works well. The interfaces of HTML and WML are used to support the search request. It successfully supports search services for catering, entertainment and yellow pages information, covering nearly 40 Chinese cities.
