To study the impact of logging upon the habitat selection of sika deer Cervus nippon kopschi in winter, systematic sampling was used in 2011 and 2012 in Taohongling National Nature Reserve in Jiangxi province,China. The survey results revealed that there were significant differences in habitat selection between the logged and unlogged areas. In logged areas, sika deer preferred the habitat with moderate or dense vegetation density, moderate or greater coverage degree with altitude above 200 m. However,in unlogged areas, sika deer chose the vegetation height short than 1 m with moderate density and altitude was above 400 m. The maximum intensity of sika deer was observed after three years’ deforestation.
