A method for determining the optical properties in turbid medium is developed based on time-resolved reflection measurement. First, a model for predicting the time spread profile is obtained by convolving the analytic solution to the diffusion equation on a semi-infinite turbid medium with the measured impulsive response function of the system. Then, the model is normalized fitted to a full-time-resolved profile that is measured using a time-correlated single photon counting system. Finally, the feasibility and effectiveness of the method are validated by measuring a model with given optical properties, and further demonstrated by determining four samples with unknown optical properties.
