高层梯队理论认为,高管团队人口统计学背景影响企业的战略选择。高管团队的人口统计学特征对企业战略的影响受到其“权力”即高层管理团队对战略制定中施加其愿望、看法能力大小的影响。通过比较高管团队与主要战略决策者——董事长处理外部环境不确定性的能力,考察了高管团队“权力”(Power)的大小。基于200家上市公司的数据支持了“权力”对高管团队人口统计学特征与企业战略之间关系的调节作用。
Upper echelon theory asserts that top management team's demography characteristics influence strategic choices. We argue that this influence is moderated by power, the ability of top management team to exert their will and proposal on strategic decision-making. We examine this power by comparing the ability to cope with external environment uncertainties between the top management team and the Chairman of the board (the key decision maker). Data based on 200 listed companies in China support the moderating effect of " power".
