Hupingshan reserve is located at the Shimen County in northwestern Hunan Province, belonging to the northern marginal range of eastern central subtropics. It possesses a large area of evergreen broadleaf forests and its vertical zonal type--mountainous mixed evergreen and deciduous broadleaf forests, which are better conserved. Especially, many old relic plants have small area of distribution, and mix together to grow. At past, here was main habitat of South China tiger, and now it is believed to be one of few areas having its activity traces. This article simply introduces its basic characteristics and discusses some problems about effective management, in order to establish it as basic unit of ecological civilization construction for reference of concerned parties.
