The standardized form of Chinese characters is ＂Yan＂（ 爓 ）among the group of words ＂Yan （炎） ＂ , ＂Yan （ 燄 ）＂,＂Yan （ 爓 ）＂and ＂Yan （ 焰 ） ＂ .There are many words of ＂Yan （ 焰 ） ＂ in the Buddhist Scripture, whose meanings can be divided into four sorts besides its original meaning and show the extended mode of word meaning and Buddhist doctrine. There are at least three aspects of academic value： be conducive to recognize the Buddhist doctrine of the guoup of words ＂Yan （ 焰 ） ＂ ,to realize the systematicness of Chinese vocabulary, and to investigate the interpretation and documentary evidence of words in the dictionaries.
