Starting from pyrogallic acid, 3,4-dimethoxyphenol, 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde and phenols, a series of 2-(2',6'-dialkoxyphenyl)-benzo[b]furan derivatives were designed and synthesized. The Sonogashira cross-coupling of o-iodophenol and aryl acetykenes was the key step of the synthetic route. All the new benzo[b]furan derivatives were confirmed by 1H NMR, 13C NMR and MS techniques.
