BBL placement is one of the most important steps in VLSI circuit layout. Slicing is a kind of representation, which is simply and effective. The normalized Polish expression is employed to code. A hybrid algorithm combined simulated annealing and tabu search is presented to solve the BBL placement. The experimental results using MCNC benchmarks show that our approach is prior to that of simulated annealing.
