Catastrophic supplementary medical insurance is designed to pay for the part of the compensation which is above the maximum payment limit. Through research on Suzhou, Shijiazhuang and Shandong as examples, we are trying to find out the operation models of the three main models. We can foresee the realistic developing model of catastrophic supplementary medical insurance, that the medical insurance sector cooperating with insurance companies is the main model. Unions, industry or company cooperating with the insurance company is also an effective way.
