Vascular dementia（ VaD） locates in the brain collaterals and its occurrence and development are closely related with the collateral disease. To improve the clinical efficacy of VaD,many scholars studied and discussed it from the collaterals disease. Therefore,the author summarized the collaterals disease position,etiology and pathogenesis and treatment of VaD and may provide the theoretical and clinical basis for it.
