由于对现有产品的微小改进已无法保证竞争优势,企业要开发具有创新性的产品。产品创新性与新产品开发过程中投入的知识密切相关。吸收能力能将新知识引入到新产品开发过程中,对产品创新性有重要影响。本文分析了吸收能力与产品创新性的关系以及知识创造能力在该关系中的中介作用。通过对212家企业调研数据的实证检验,本文发现吸收能力和产品创新性及知识创造能力都呈倒U形关系,知识创造能力对产品创新性有正向影响,知识创造能力在吸收能力与产品创新性关系中有中介作用。
As minor improvements on extant products can hardly ensure its competitive advantage, a firm needs to develop highly innovative products. Product innovativeness is highly related to the knowledge committed into the new product development process. Absorptive capacity enables to introduce external new knowledge into the new product development process, thus it may impact product innovativeness. Yet, few studies have investigated this issue. This study investigates the relationship between ab- sorptive capacity and product innovativeness as well as the potential mediating effect of knowledge creation capability on this rela- tionship. Based on a data set of 212 firms, this study finds that absorptive capacity has an inverted U -shaped impact on both product innovativeness and knowledge creation capability, knowledge creation capability positively impacts product innovative- hess, and knowledge creation capability mediates the relationship between absorptive capacity and product innovativeness.
