湘西地区是湖南经济欠发达地区但却是古村落资源最为富集的区域。首先，从资源学的角度分析了古村落的内涵及其价值；其次，从水平方向和垂直方向两个维度分析了湘西地区古村落资源的空间分布特征；第三，在空间分布研究的基础上，从整合与培育古村落资源、构建武陵山旅游圈、创新区域合作机制方面探讨了湘西地区古村落旅游发展的对策，以供决策部门参考。
英文摘要：
The western Hunan was the weak area of the economic, but the richest region in the ancient village resource in Hunan Province. The authors discussed the meaning and value of ancient village base on the view of natural resources, then analyzed the characteristics from the horizontal and vertical dimensions, and finally proposed three countermeasures from resources integration and cultivate. The authors built Wuling mountain tourism circle and innovation regional cooperation mechanisms to develop the ancient village tourism.
