Saussurea involuerata Kar. et Kir. （S. involuerata）, a kind of composite and perennial herbage plant, is a rare and precious alpine medicinal plants with high medicinal value, it can regulate human＇s body and has health care function, therefore attracts attention of many scholars. This article first introduces the physiology and ecology of S. involuerata, then summarized the tissue culture S. involuerata, including the effect of explant, hormone, and culture condition on the tissue culture ofS. involuerata. Lastly, it introduces molecular biology and other aspects of the S. involuerata research results in recent years which were reviewed.
