One isomer of oxodihydrodamascenone,1-(5,5-dimethylcyclohex-2-ene-1-one-3-yl)-pentan-2-one,was unexpectedly prepared from,α-isophorone in the presence of hexanedioic acid and zinc chloride.The structure of the synthetic perfume compound 2 was identified by GC/MS,1HNMR,and 13CNMR.The conditions for synthesis of the target compound were also optimized using anhydrous zinc chloride at a reaction temperature of 145 ℃ and a reaction time of 8 h,and should be controlled during the refluxing process.
