Organotin compound (o-FC6H4CH2)2SnCl2 has been synthesized by the reaction of o-FC6H4CH2Cl with Sn and characterized by elemental analysis, IR and ^1HNMR. The crystal and molecular structure have been determined by X-ray single crystal diffraction. A crystal of the compound is monoclinic with space group C2/c, a=23.794(17)A, b =4.85(2)A, c=12.744(9)A,β=93.880(10.)°, V=1467.8(18)A^3, Z=4, Dc =1.845Mg/m^3,μ=2.109mm^-1, R=0.0255, wR=0.0738. In the compound, the tin atom has distorted tetrahedral configuration. The molecules are packed in the unit cell in one-dimensional chain structure through a weak interaction between the chlorine atom and tin atom of an adjacent molecule.
