This study was performed to investigate the contents of trace elements in weaning rat induced by perinatal exposure to lead in female rats, as well as the protective effect of N-acetylcysteine (NAC). The inductively couple plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) was ap- plied to measure the contents of trace elements (lead, zinc, copper, iron, manganese, selenium) in the blood, brain, ossature, liver and kidney in weaning rats. The results showed that, in comparison with control group, the content of lead in the tissues of lead exposure group increased significantly (P〈0. 01 ) ; the content of zinc decreased significantly (P〈0. 01 ) ; the contents of iron in the liver, selenium in the kidney and iron, copper, selenium in the ossature decreased significantly (P〈0. 01 or P〈0. 05). Compared with lead exposure group, the content of lead in the tissues of NAC group decreased significantly (P〈0. 01 or P〈0. 05), and the content of zinc increased significantly in the serum and kidney (P〈0.05), but other trace elements had no obvious changes (P〉0. 05 ).
