Islet βcell dysfunction is the fundamental factor in the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes.Multi-ple researches have implicated that the canonical Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway may have significant effect on islet βcell neogenesis, proliferation and its function by direct or indirect interaction with glucagon-like peptide or inflammatory pathway.Also this pathway might possibly mediate the cross-talk betweenβcell and peripheral tissues.The in-depth research on canonical Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway and its modula-tors′effect on the function of islet βcells can provide new directions for type 2 diabetes therapy.
