The achievement of industrialization and modernization marks the historical progress of human civilization. Although it is the common pursuit for countries in the world to fulfill the industrialization and modernization,the approaches to this fulfillment vary from nation to nation. The industrialization and modernization driven by capitalism have made a lot of accomplishments,but the unavoidable contradiction and shortcomings have appeared accordingly. It is indisputable that the western capitalist modernization developmental mode has lost its momentum. In light of this,China should critically and historically review the western capitalist modernization mode in the process of its own modernization drive. In order to open up a brighter prospect for human society,China should also overtake the western mode and follow the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics consistently and unswervingly on the basis of a correct understanding of world affairs and its own condition and its autonomy in choosing its political system and road to development.
