With the rapid growth of network traffic, es-pecially the exponential growth of cloud computing, datacenter traffic, the backbone networks node pro-cessing abilities are facing a great challenge. All opti-cal switching become the possible solutions. The main optical switching technologies are expounded in this paper, and the solutions are discussed with the focus on the comparison of their advantages and shortcom-ings.
