This paper analyzes the authenticity of the aquatic plants in West Lake and combs the representative species of aquatic plants from the literature,local chronicles,poems and paintings.Through the comparative study,it draws up the strategy of preserving the ancient trees and famous trees,maintaining the existing stable communities and restoring the traditional aquatic plants,and emphasizes the authentic maintenance of the characteristic aquatic plants and the heritage value carrier of West Lake.In the new period,it should meet the needs of contemporary landscape,show the differences of the different historical periods,but also make the aquatic plant landscape evolve in the track of the West Lake traditional cultural characteristics.
