In the 1930s and 1940s, Japanese fascists put into force the system of ＂ comfort women＂ sex slavery in the process of their aggression in Asia. China became the biggest victim. Since China and Japan were in hostility to each other in a state of war, Chinese ＂comfort women＂ suffered the worst. This article is based mainly on evidence from field investiga- tion cases across China over the past 20 years, on archives and documents, and on recollections of Japanese veterans. It discourses upon how Chinese ＂comfort women＂ as a group were captured, assaulted and tortured as sexual slaves by Japanese soldiers, and what daily miseries, mental injuries and death threats they underwent in their lives. Evidence for Japan＇ s wartime military sexual slavery is irrefutable. The Japanese government has to reflect on its history and bear responsibility for its war crimes.
