From the early 1970s,synchrotron radiation facility went through three stages of rapid development.Now, the fourth generation station of X-ray free electron laser has been put into operation.Synchrotron radiation becomes one of the most advanced facilities in life science,medicine,chemistry,physics,material science and other fields,with im-portant and extensive promising applications.Hereby,we summarized the characteristics and applications of synchrotron X-ray source in recent years,and introduced new development of synchrotron X-ray source in biology.
