The adsorption isotherm of a catalyst powder contains information on its surface area, pore volume, pore size distribution, pore shape, and surface heterogeneity. A popular technique used to measure adsorption isotherms is volumetric adsorption manometry, but the present apparatuses have some defects: (1) the isotherm is a few (ca 20) points; (2) the dosing manifold is refilled many times in measuring an isotherm, and the errors are accumulative; (3) the very low pressure (〈 133 Pa) region isotherm cannot be measured. This work introduces a new principle of measurement to overcome these defects.
