Recently, the economic operation of the handicraft artisans of Yunnan Heqing has brought new economic conditions to some Tibetan inhabited areas. The handicrafts make up most of trade exchanges between Yunnan and the Tibetan inhabited areas nearby. This article describes the development of handicraft artisans recently in Tibetan inhabited areas in accordance with field work done in Tibet, Lhasa, Gongpo,Chamdo,etc. , and Yunnan, Heqing. The article also appraises and analyzes the problems that the Yunnan Heqing handicraft artisans are faced with.
