The bronze he-bowl was invented by Dong Yi （lit. Eastern Barbarians） people around the Western Zhou and Eastern Zhou Periods, and diffused into the Central Plains and other regions in the early to mid Spring-and-Autumn Period and got popular there, and gradually vanished in the late Warring-States Period. The quantity of he unearthed was only second to that of ding-tripods and vases among the bronzes in the Eastern Zhou Perind.
