Food urbanism is one of the topics of 2011 IFLA convention.It promotes sustainable development and food safety with landscape and urban planning measures.The paper elucidates the concept of food urbanism,indicates that food urbanism includes food production and food system,and analyzes their background,theoretical foundation,and strategic system.Food urbanism poses new challenges to China＇s urban and rural planning.China should stress urban agriculture,and integrates urban agriculture into sustainable urban and neighborhood planning.
