As a teacher of School of Architecture Tianjin University, Ding Yao reorganized the first year architectural curriculum of the spring semester 2014 for students in his group. The last work of this semester was to design and build new light doors as complement of Dule- si＇s gate building which was the entrance of the oldest temple in China. The setting of this course not only reserved customary exercises such as model making, material perceiving and construction activity for freshmen of the school, but also carried out critical modification for the abstract from operation by introducing a historical site. In the story happened in Jixian this summer, steeping into the atmosphere formed bythe ancient wooden structure,students had knitted their thoughts toward topics like design, history and technic which had been split with each other for a long time in today＇s architectural lessons into their own experiences.
