Kun Liu was born in Heilongjiang Province, China, in 1981. He received his B.Eng. degree in optoelectronics information engineering and M.Eng. degree in optical engineering in 2004 and 2006, respectively, both from Tianjin University, China. He is pursuing his Ph.D. degree with Tianjin University. His research interests are in fiber sensing systems. Wen-Cai Jing was born in Hebei Province, China, in 1971. He received his B.Eng. and M.Eng. degrees in electrical engineering and Ph.D. degree in optical engineering in 1993, 1995 and 1998, respectively, all from Tianjin University, China. He is currently a professor with the College of Precision Instrument and Optoelectronics Engineering, Tianjin University. His research interests include optical detection, optical interconnection and fiber sensing. Prof. Jing has published more than 70 papers in scientific and technology journals and conferences. He is a member of SPIE and the Chinese Ootical Society. Gang-Ding Peng was born in Hunan Province, China. He received his B.Eng. degree in physics from Fudan University in 1982, M.Eng. degree in application science and his Ph.D. degree in electronics engineering in 1984 and 1987 respectively, both from Shanghai Jiaotong University. He is currently an associate professor with School of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications, University of New South Wales. He has worked with success over 10 years on a wide range of photonics related research topics: electro-optical modulator and switches, all-optical switches, optical fiber couplers, splitters and combiners. Prof. Peng has published more than 100 journal publications and 180 conference publications. Jian-Zhong Zhang was born in Neimenggu Province, China, in 1978. He received his B.Eng. degree in physics from Lanzhou University in 2000, M.Eng. degree in optical engineering in 2004, and Ph.D. degree in mechanism design both from Harbin Engineering University.
