Molecular imprinting technology (MIT) is a technique to design artificial polymers with a predetermined selectivity and specificity for a given target molecule by cross-linking polymerization in the presence of the target molecule (template).The basic principle,different preparation methods and their advantages and disadvantages of metal ion imprinted polymers are put on emphasis.In addition,the recent application of molecular imprinting technology in biology,analytical chemistry,natural product chemistry,medicine and dyeing and finishing wastewater treatment are summarized.
