Knoevenagel condensation of aromatic aldehydes with methylenes proceeded very efficiently in ionic liquid. The reaction can be carried out in good yield (58% -95% ) under lower temperature (80 ℃ ) and in a short time (2 -6 h). The structures of products were characterized by 1HNMR,Mass and IR spectra.
