BP180, one of the elementary components of hemidesmosome, plays a major role in connecting epidermis and dermis. As being recognized and targeted by pathogenic antibodies in various autoimmune bullous diseases, BP180 is important in diagnosis and treatment. In this paper, we reviewed the updates of its function, mechanisms and treatment strategies in the associated diseases.
