Z-scan technique is used to study the non-linear optical properties of a new kind of diarylethene compound C27H18F6S2. The measured non-linear refractive indexes at 533 nm and 633 nm are n2=-7.69×10^-6cm^2/w and n2=3.26×10^-6cm^2/w, non-linear absorption are β=-6.96×10^-4 m/w and β=1.06×10^-3 m/w. and the transverse spatial distribution of the change in the refractive index under the larger incident intensity was studied. And the sample can be worked as an optical limiting device for 533 nm CW laser, and its dynamic range is 287.
