Base on the safety knowledge failure mode of the staff in deferent departments of the coal enterprise as a study object, the frequency analysis method and the entropy method were applied to determine the weight of the all failure modes. The evaluation matrix was applied to calculate the failure rate of the staff safety knowledge and finally the available safety knowledge abilities of the staff in all departments were obtained. The available safety knowledge abilities of the staff were evaluated and analyzed. The departments with low safety knowledge abilities were found and could be basis for the enterprise to make the safety investment. Finally the cases were applied to verify the practicability of the staff safety knowledge evaluation.
