According to the characteristics of opposite color and taking CIELAB color space as the describing color system, a contrast definition of opposite color image is presented based on the color display characteristics and CIELAB color-difference formula. By computing contrast of color blocks with the definition and the human eye perceived, and comparing with foreign studies, it shows that this definition can not only take into account the brightness and chroma contrast, but also calculate value and the human visual experience showed good consistency, and the calculation is relatively simple, which is a very practical contrast definition of the monitor output image.
