After making a survey of the models of urban-rural integration in underdeveloped areas in Western Chinaand synthesizing what has been researched on this issue, index criteria for urban-rural integration are set up in termsof economic, social and environmental aspects. Through selecting relevant indices and using factor analysis method,we calculate the degree of development of urban and rural integration in Gansu province in 2006-2012, based onwhich we draw conclusion and put forward suggestions on the coordination of urban and rural economic society inunderdeveloped areas in Western China
