The failure of stator windings and the primary failure mechanism were described. The development of fault tolerant electric machine and the major fault- tolerant control strategies of the stator windings open circuit or short circuit were focused on. Fault- tolerant technique will be oriented to isolate between phases,multiple phases,high performance and intelligentization.
