Introducing rent seeking activity into MRW model, the paper proposes amended spatial MRW convergence model, empirically tests direct effects and spatial spillover effects of rent seeking activity on economic growth on the basis of provincial panel data of China transitional period using the method of dynamic spatial panel econometrics. The results show that direct effects and spatial spillover effects of rent seeking activity on economic growth are positive significantly in China economy transitional period. And economic growth is endowed with dynamic convergence and path dependency in time-space dimension.
