The morphogensis of indefinite inflorescence of Phyllostachys violascens （ Cart. ） A. et R.iv. was studied by scanning electron microscopy and paraffin section techniques. The morphogenesis of inflorescence of P. violascens could be divided into 6 periods： inflorescence rachis differentiation, the first lateral spikelet and apical spikelet differentiation, glumous flower primordium differentiation, stamen and pistil develpment, germ cell development and pseudo-spikelet development. These 6 periods are continuous and overlapped.
