The floral biology of Phyllostachys violascens including flower bud differentiation, foretoken of flowering, appearance of flowering forest, flowering pattern, structure of foral organ, opening of floret and fructification are investigated systematically. The results are as follows： P. violascens flowers sporadically, having complicated and diversified flowering patterns. The inflorescence of P. violascens belongs to the representative interauctant inflorescence, whose basic unit is pseudospikelet. The setting percentage of P. violascens is low.
