The construction of service-oriented government demands urgently to adjust and reform intergovernmental longitudinal relations that are an important aspect of China＇s government system.China＇s intergovernmental longitudinal relations are characterized by the centralized power in structure as well as have some particular features in system.Such relations have both their advantages and disadvantages.The following works should be done in adjusting intergovernmental longitudinal relations according to the request of constructing service-oriented government： all-levels governments should continually meet the growing public service needs of citizens;to ensure equal access to basic public services;to promote effectively the administration reform and switch government functions;to further remain and enhance advantages of intergovernmental longitudinal relations and overcome their disadvantages
