The characteristics and functions of basic mathematical models in the expert system for No. 1 Blast Furnace of Guofeng Iron and Steel Co. , Ltd. were introduced, including burden optimization model, theoretical combustion temperature calculation model, hearth thermal state parameter calcula- tion model, and blast furnace operation line calculation model. The application of these models in blast furnace production was also analyzed. The analysis shows that these models play an important role in the blast furnace expert system and can effectively help operators to better understand the con- dition of the blast furnace with real time instructions so that blast furnace stability and smooth opera- tion can be guaranteed.
